In a bid to revive our rich heritage, customs, traditions, folk art and culture 'Amritsar VIRASAT MELA' was organised by Virsa VIhar from 4 march to 7 March 2010.

The festival comprised a series of performance's by some of India's finest exponents of music, dance and theatre. As amritsar (Punjab) shares historical memories accross the Border : Artists from Pakistan also participated in the event.

The innaguration ceremony of The Heritage FESTIVAL was held on 4 march by illuminating the city through JAAGO (Punjabi Dance, Gidhha). Various schools and colleges participated in the innuguration ceremnony with their teams. For the Purpose of Involving whole city in the mela Different routes were set for the teams From all seven Doors of the city.

The Mela also included literary seminar on Punjab. Art & handicraft traditional exhibition was another feature of the festival. The Craft Mela was also showcased in the precincts of gandhi ground which was a reflection of ancient folk handicraft.
